Tour Description
Dive into Mayotte’s marine and green shell paradise with this classic and gorgeous shore excursion to N’Gouja, the island’s premier spot for sea turtles and snorkeling, and one of the best in the world. Departing from Mamoudzou’s market area, a scenic drive (25 km) via the D3 and CCD4 roads takes you through lush hills to N’Gouja’s golden sands, framed by baobabs and turquoise waters.
Snorkel in the calm lagoon (↕4-30ft/1-10m), where green sea turtles graze on seagrass just meters from shore, often joined by rare hawksbills. Swim to the vibrant coral reef to spot sixbar wrasse, melon butterflyfish, and skunk clownfish among anemones and giant clams. The clear, warm waters (24-28°C/75-82°F) ensure excellent visibility for all skill levels. Respectful turtle observation is emphasized—keep distance and avoid touching to protect these gentle creatures.
Relax on the beach. Lounge under baobabs, photograph the stunning lagoon, or watch Mayotte lemurs leaping in nearby trees. Post-lunch at our restaurant buy local crafts from nearby Kani-Kéli village if time allows and locals bring them to the beach.
